The latest flagship by OnePlus is all set to make its appearance in India today. OnePlus 5T, launched at an event in New York last week, comes as the first bezel-less device by the Chinese smartphone company. The successor to OnePlus 5 also comes with ‘Face Unlock’ security feature, a first in its price segment. The OnePlus 5T will make its way to India through a sale scheduled for 4:30 pm IST today by e-commerce website Amazon. The Amazon sale, however, has been kept exclusively for Amazon Prime members. Simultaneously, the device will also be up for grabs on the official website of OnePlus as well as in the experience stores of the company. Following these first sales, the open sale for the OnePlus device will begin from November 28.
Launch Offers
Amazon India has also put up launch offers along with the sale. These include Rs 1,500 cashback for HDFC Bank credit and debit card users, 1,000GB 4G mobile data for Idea users, Rs 250 Amazon Pay Balance upon streaming on Amazon Prime Videos app, Rs 500 promotion credit for Kindle eBooks as well as a one-year damage insurance by Servify. In addition to this, Amazon is also offering a Rs 300 cashback for new Amazon Prime customers. Amazon has also put up a chance to win the OnePlus 5T by opting for ‘Notify Me’ on the website.
Additionally, users can also join the OnePlus referral board to gain discounts on OnePlus products and referral points which can further be redeemed for more OnePlus offerings. For this, users must have their OnePlus referral link. The link is generated automatically for those who buy the smartphone from the OnePlus website. Those who buy it from other channels can generate their referral link after verifying the device’s IMEI number on the OnePlus website.
Specifications
As for its specifications, the OnePlus 5T features a 6.01-inch Full Optic AMOLED display with 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution and protected by a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass. OnePlus has also introduced Face Unlock in the OnePlus 5T as a first in the OnePlus devices and claims it to unlock the phone in 0.4 seconds. However, the Face Unlock feature does not work with third party Payment apps. OnePlus 5T is powered by Snapdragon 835 Soc and will be available in two storage options – 6GB RAM/64GB internal storage and an 8GB RAM/ 128GB storage option. It runs the latest OxygenOS based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The smartphone is backed by a 3300 mAh battery which also features OnePlus’ signature Dash Charging.
In terms of optics, the OnePlus 5T sports a dual camera setup at the back, which claims to deliver an improved performance in ‘Low-light photography’ and ‘Portrait’ images over the OnePlus 5. Though the smartphone carries almost similar camera-hardware specifications as in OnePlus 5, the secondary lens on the OnePlus 5T features Intelligent Pixel Technology and a wider aperture. OnePlus 5T also features a 3.55 mm headphone jack.
Price
OnePlus 5T has been launched at a starting price of Rs 32,999 for the 64GB storage variant. The upper-end variant carries an 8GB RAM coupled with a 128GB storage and costs Rs 37,999 in India.
