The Okinawa Praise is the company’s second electric scooter in India this year after the Ridge and offers improved power, range and perforamnce as well. Okinawa says that its flagship Praise is the ‘most complete e-scooter in India yet’.
The Okinawa Praise has been launched in India at ₹ 59,889 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is the second e-scooter from Okinawa after the Ridge that was launched earlier in 2017. While the Ridge was more of a budget scooter, the Praise is more premium and offers better performance and features over its younger sibling. The scooter gets an LED light across the front apron with DRL, which surely makes it look impressive. You also get LED taillight and indicators at the rear. The Okinawa Praise gets a 1000 watt electric motor which makes 2500 watt of power (3.35 bhp) and can propel the scooter to a top speed of 75 kmph, making it the fastest e-scooter in India. Okinawa claims the Praise can run for 175-200 km on a full battery, while the running cost stands at 10 paise per km.
The Okinawa Praise measures 1970 mm in length, 745 mm in width and 1145 mm in height, the seat height stands at 774 mm. The ground clearance is a decent 170 mm. The Praise looks premium in its design and a host of features too to keep up with the upmarket appeal. The scooter rides on 12-inch wheels with twin disc brakes at the front and a single disc brake at the rear. It also comes with E-ABS (Electronic Assisted Braking System). The suspension setup includes telescopic forks up front and double shocks at the rear, which are said to offer a better ride quality and control on the move.
As far as features are concerned, the Okinawa Praise comes fitted with a host of them including a side-stand sensor, keyless entry, find my scooter function, anti-theft mechanism and more. The Praise uses an all-digital instrument cluster, while the underseat storage space is 19.5 litres. The e-scooter is available in two battery options – a VRLA battery which takes about 6-8 hours to charge, while there is also the option of a lithium-ion version which takes about two hours to charge.
Okinawa is currently offering the scooter with the lead acid battery, while the lithium-ion version will be available in the next two to three months. The latter though is said to be about ₹ 5000-6000 more expensive than the lead acid version, but has a lower charge time as well.
Bookings for the Okinawa Praise commenced last month when the scooter was first teased for a token amount of ₹ 2000. Deliveries, on the other hand, will commence towards the end of this month. The company has currently setup 106 dealerships across the country, and aims to increase the same to 150 towards the end of 2018. The electric company plans to have a healthy 500 outlets by 2020.
